Conservation Area & Sensory Garden

One of the things people don’t often realise about our school is just how much outdoor space we are lucky to have. As well as two large playgrounds and a wonderful field, children also have regular access to our newly transformed Sensory Garden and Conservation Area.

Welcome to our school’s enchanting conservation area, a haven for young explorers and budding naturalists! This vibrant outdoor space is thoughtfully designed to inspire curiosity and foster a deep connection with nature among children of all ages. Our conservation area features a large, secure pond, mud kitchens, den building, an outdoor classroom, a bird hide, and a cozy reading nook, among many other delightful elements.

Taking learning outside offers numerous benefits for children. It encourages physical activity, enhances sensory experiences, and promotes social skills as children collaborate on projects like den building or mud kitchen creations. The secure pond provides a safe environment for children to observe aquatic life, fostering a sense of wonder and respect for living organisms. Our outdoor classroom is a dynamic space where lessons come alive, allowing children to engage with their surroundings and learn through hands-on activities.

The bird hide offers a quiet retreat for birdwatching, helping children develop patience and observational skills. Meanwhile, the reading nook provides a serene spot for children to immerse themselves in stories, surrounded by the beauty of nature. These experiences not only enrich their academic learning but also contribute to their emotional well-being, encouraging mindfulness and a sense of tranquility.
